PDFCraft is a free toolkit built around exactly those jobs — focused tools that run in your browser, do one thing well, and hand the file straight back. This article explains what PDFCraft is, how its browser-based approach works, and how to tell whether it is the right tool for what you need to do.

What PDFCraft is

PDFCraft is a collection of focused PDF tools that run entirely in your browser. Each tool does one job: merge documents, split a file into page ranges, rotate pages, compress a PDF, add a watermark or stamp, sign a document, or convert between PDF, Word and images. You open a tool page, add a file, adjust a few options and download the result.

There is no dashboard to learn, no onboarding flow, no trial period and no sign-up. If you need two pages deleted from a 40-page scan, you should be able to do that in under a minute — not create an account first.

Why browser-based PDF tools are useful

Your files stay on your device

Modern browsers can read and rewrite PDF files directly. That changes the usual model of an online PDF tool: instead of uploading your document to a server, waiting for it to be processed and downloading it again, PDFCraft reads the file locally, changes it in memory and saves the result back to your device. Nothing is transmitted in between.

Nothing to install

The tools run in whatever browser you already have. There is no desktop application to download, no plugin to keep updated, and no storage used on your device beyond the file itself. On a borrowed or locked-down computer, that is often the difference between finishing the task and not.

The same tools on phone and desktop

Documents increasingly arrive on phones first. Every tool is designed for touch first and scales up to desktop, so merging two files or fixing a rotated scan works the same way on a phone as on a laptop. The practical consequences of that design choice are covered in Mobile-first PDF editing.

Common PDF problems PDFCraft helps solve

• A document needs to be one file. Cover sheets, annexes and signed pages can be combined with Merge PDF — the step-by-step version is in the Merge PDF guide.
• Only some pages matter. Extract a range or single pages with Split PDF, or delete blank scans and confidential pages with Delete Pages.
• The file is too large to email or upload. Compress PDF reduces the size at three levels and shows the before-and-after sizes; compressing PDFs without losing quality explains how to choose a level.
• Pages are sideways or out of order. Fix orientation permanently with Rotate PDF and drag pages into sequence with Rearrange.
• A document needs approval or a date. Watermark PDF adds DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL or company text, and the Stamp Creator designs reusable approved, paid or dated stamps you can place precisely.
• A form needs a signature. Sign PDF lets you draw, type or upload a signature and place it anywhere on the page.
• Photos or screenshots need to become a PDF. JPG to PDF combines images into one document; PDF to JPG goes the other way.

Available PDF tools

Privacy approach

The privacy model is simple: your document is processed in your browser and never uploaded, so it cannot be stored, shared or analysed on a server — it never reaches one. There is no account either, so there is no profile attached to your documents.

The few things you save — reusable stamps, for example — live in your own browser's storage, not in a cloud database. You can export them as a JSON backup and import them on another device whenever you like.

Who PDFCraft is for

PDFCraft fits people who need occasional, specific PDF operations rather than a full document management system:

• Anyone who handles scanned paperwork — merging parts, removing blank pages, fixing rotation.
• Students and applicants working to upload limits, who need a file to fit a portal's size restriction.
• Small teams that need consistent stamps, dates and watermarks without buying document software.
• People who prefer not to hand documents to a web service — the file never leaves the device.

If you need to rewrite paragraph text in a PDF the way a word processor does, or you require certificate-based digital signatures, PDFCraft is not the right fit — both are outside its current scope.

What is not available yet

Password protection and unlocking, additional conversion formats, and the AI features are on the roadmap but not available today. Anything marked Coming Soon in the toolkit is exactly that: planned, not shipped. How to get started

1. Open the toolkit and pick the tool that matches your task — each page explains what it does before you add a file.
2. Add your file by dragging it in or tapping the upload area. Nothing is transmitted; processing happens locally.
3. Adjust the options, check the live preview where the tool offers one, and download the result to your device.
